About the Shelf

Hi, I’m Frank Martin and I’m an aspiring writer living in Seattle, WA. I’ve been a bookworm since I could read, and I grew up with Tintin and Calvin & Hobbes, the Hobbit, Chronicles of Narnia, Redwall, and Sherlock Holmes. I loved fiction as a kid, though my literary interests have expanded out into non-fiction as well. These days I read a pretty good variety of both. My fiction reading tends to center on sci-fi/fantasy and manga (being a geek and all). I also continue to read and enjoy YA fiction. My favorite YA author at the moment is John Green, and for adult fiction, its honestly a toss up between Jim Butcher and Brandon Sanderson. Non-fiction tends towards spirituality/religion, Minimalism, and Health. Seeing as this is, well, my own personal review platform, there’ll probably also be reviews of movies, TV shows, and anime as well. Seeing as I just said the only fiction I read is manga, sci-fi/fantasy, and YA, you can guess what kind of TV/movie reviews will be showing up here.

Expect a post somewhere between once a week and once a month. My rating system is pretty straightforward: At the end of every review I’ll give a buy/borrow/don’t bother recommendation. If you prefer star ratings, think of this as 5/3/0, or “you’re going to want to read this at least twice”/”Once is enough”/”Don’t waste your time.”
